After realizing that homophobia still exists within the immigrant community, a recent Hope House alumnus and other folks came together to start a conversation group called the LGBT Immigrants & Allies Network. The group hosts conversations aimed to end homophobia in the immigrant community, and support fellow LGBT immigrants who experienced discrimination and violence in their home countries – in order to live here with hope and without homophobia and rejection. The group consists of LGBT immigrants and allied supporters asking what we can do to teach people to love one another in order to end homophobia in the community and meets twice monthly in the Hope House community space. If you are an LGBT immigrant who is looking for support, you can contact the group at firstname.lastname@example.org. We would love to meet you!
